Angry Birds: Knock on Wood brings the touchscreen phone app to a hands-on board game that is fun for the whole family. Two to four players can play at once, and the board game rules are the same as in the application.
Would you like to play America’s favorite phone app in real life? If you’re a fan of the Angry Birds application, then you’re going to love Angry Birds: Knock on Wood. The battle continues between the Angry Birds and those darn egg-stealing pigs, but those birds will have their revenge!
In this game, you draw cards to determine your next move, build castles, and then knock them down in a hands-on version of the popular phone application. The first player to reach 100 points wins! Three Angry Birds must launch towards the pigs’ wooden castles, if you destroy them, then you may advance to the next level.
Angry Birds: Knock on Wood contains three Angry Birds, four pigs, one bonus points star, one bonus points egg, fourteen building blocks, forty mission cards, sixteen points cards, an instruction manual and a bird launcher.
This game is suited for players age 5 and up, and does not require any additional equipment to play. You simply, build, launch and destroy those castles to win. There are three levels of cards that provide different building ideas; along with a fourth level that allows you to freestyle.
When free styling, you can experiment with different buildings and launching distances. The goal is to launch an Angry Bird towards the pigs to knock them down. You gain points for knocking down the pigs, and the first player to reach 100 points is victorious.
To play, draw a card. The higher the card is, the more points you can win. You then give that card to the next player and they must build the castle that that card contains. The bird launcher is then used to shoot it down. Your ammo is an Angry Bird, as indicated on the Mission card.
After you have some experience, you can experiment with the game’s rules, structures being built, and birds being launched. Fourth level mission cards allow for this type of freestyle castle building and creative play. There is a menagerie of possibilities, and the hands-on style of the game keeps you and your family entertained for hours.

The concept of the entire is enjoyable and entertaining. It is also easy to understand as well as explain to younger players. It’s a great game for young children as well as older children and adults.
The pieces inside the game are built sturdy, and some children even enjoy using the game pieces as action figures. This game also has the ability to help a child’s coordination develop, as well as patience.
Not to mention the game is fun for them whether or not they are into Angry Birds on the phone or computer. For the money, we think this game offers a lot of entertainment value which is one of the biggest pros when considering purchasing it as a gift – or even for yourself! (We won’t tell.)
It can be really frustrating to keep searching for scattered pieces after a castle has been destroyed. The building can be a tedious process, and players can become frustrated when building the structures shown on the cards. Some users have complained that structures in the Level 1 category are just as difficult as some in Level 2 or 3.
It is true that some players may have difficulty building the structures, especially if you’re prone to clumsiness or need to work on the virtue of patience. Children who do not tolerate slow, meticulous projects may become easily distracted or even annoyed at the building of the castles.
There is also somewhat of a learning curve for launching the birds. You must always make sure that you have all of the pieces when packing up the game, if you lose any it will seriously impede your ability to play the game at all, considering that these pieces are integral to structural success.
For the price, if you have an Angry Birds fan – young or old – there is a good chance they’re going to like this game as a gift. And while it is fun, it also helps with coordination for younger children as well, which is a good thing. Available for well under $30 most places online, this is a good value for the money and makes a perfect gift for small children or adults who love Angry Birds or just love great games in General.
Sometimes when companies make games branded from other games (like video games) they do not come out very good.
Angry Birds Knock on Wood is different in that it would work well as a standalone game if nobody knew about the Angry Birds video game (which is hard to imagine with so many millions of downloads for many platforms!) Now you can have the hit video game for the phone in your home with a real board game.
Overall, we have to recommend Angry Birds Knock on Wood. From the value for the money aspect to the amount of fun it can give children to the help with development it gives them. While the Angry Birds game may be a passing fad to some, we think the board game for Angry Birds will offer quite a bit of fun. Just make sure to keep all the pieces together in the box!
